When this song was released back in 2007/2008, I received many requests from engaged couples who wanted dance lessons using this song for their first dance. When I asked them why (I always do!) they gave me several reasons…
One, it is an extremely upbeat and happy song for a first dance, so having dance lessons with it playing in the background was not only highly enjoyable for them, but also for me as a dance teacher.
Two, Michael Buble has that iconic voice so similar to the style of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby and so on; all of whom have produced some of the greatest first dance songs (Many of which I have used for other wedding couples for their first dance lessons). I would recommend Michael Buble feature on your wedding playlist as well!
Three, not only is the beat incredibly easy to pick up, but, more importantly, it remains consistent for the entire song. So, when I choreograph and first dance and then teach it during the lessons, my clients can hear the beat for the whole track, which cannot be said for some other popular first dance songs, some of which have no easily identifiable beat at all, or the beat changes and fades throughout the song.
Finally, the lyrics are great for a first dance song, not only to listen to, but to dance to as well. Lines like ‘You’re my minute of every day’, ‘And I can’t believe, uh that I’m your man’ and ‘You’re every line, you’re every word, you’re everything’ are all very apt for a first dance song.
