This weeks top song for wedding dance lessons near you!

Ed Sheeran: Thinking out loud

Style: 4 beat

Difficulty: Easy

When this song came out in 2014, almost every couple who came to me for dancing lessons, especially those wanting wedding dance lessons or ballroom dancing lessons, asked to learn to dance to this song. There are three main reasons for this:

Firstly, the music video; where Ed Sheeran and Brittany Cherry are dancing a beautiful dance while the song is playing. Many couples who want dancing lessons, ballroom dancing lessons or wedding dance lessons have asked specifically for some of the dance moves in that video, including the spin lift (around 1:12 in the video), the back to back sit down (around 1:36), the kick lift (at 2:42), the straddle lift (at 2:56), the tandem lift (at 3:19), the rolling of the back (at 3:36), the kick over (at 4:20), as well as the many other lifts and the general way she dances around him. I have since devised and taught many similar dance moves during my dancing lessons, especially wedding dance lessons for first dances and occasionally for fun during my ballroom dancing lessons.

Secondly, the lyrics: Lines like ‘And darling I will be loving you ‘till we’re 70’ and ‘I fall in love with you every single day’ are extremely apt for a wedding dance. In fact, the entire song seems to be about a long-lasting love. For all couples getting married, the lyrics are often the most important factor when it comes to picking a wedding dance song to bring to me for dancing lessons.

Thirdly, the beat and pace of the song are almost perfect for a first dance. The song has an obvious 1…2…3…4 beat, which is extremely easy to dance to. It also remains consistent throughout the entire song, so when I give dance lessons for a wedding dance, the couple can stay on this very clear beat for the entire song.

In summary, whether I am delivering ballroom dancing lessons, wedding dance lessons, or dancing lessons in general, this song is by far one of the most popular and most highly recommended by me. Even if it is now several years old.

The lyrics can be found below…

When your legs don't work like they used to before And I can't sweep you off of your feet Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks

And darling I will be loving you 'til we're 70 And baby my heart could still fall as hard at 23 And I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways Maybe just the touch of a hand Oh me I fall in love with you every single day And I just wanna tell you I am

So honey now Take me into your loving arms Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars Place your head on my beating heart I'm thinking out loud Maybe we found love right where we are

When my hair's all but gone and my memory fades And the crowds don't remember my name When my hands don't play the strings the same way, mm I know you will still love me the same

'Cause honey your soul can never grow old, it's evergreen Baby your smile's forever in my mind and memory

I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways Maybe it's all part of a plan I'll just keep on making the same mistakes Hoping that you'll understand

But baby now Take me into your loving arms Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars Place your head on my beating heart I'm thinking out loud That maybe we found love right where we are, oh

So baby now Take me into your loving arms Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars Oh darling, place your head on my beating heart I'm thinking out loud That maybe we found love right where we are

Oh baby, we found love right where we are (maybe) And we found love right where we are
