This weeks top song for wedding dance lessons near you!

Style: Slow Jive, Rock and Roll or American Smooth

Difficulty: Easy/medium

I have heard this song used a few times during weddings and civil partnerships after the couple have signed the register and are walking back down the aisle; and it works incredibly well for that purpose. This is because it is an extremely happy song and the lyrics are perfect for a wedding or civil partnership.

Lines like, 'This will be an everlasting love' (also the title of the song) and 'You've given me the thrill of a lifetime, and made me believe you've got more thrills to spare' are perfect for a wedding because they obviously suggest a long and happy partnership!

However, I have also used it during my first dance lessons as well as my Ballroom and Latin dancing lessons, for a number of other reasons besides the above.

It is a slow Jive pace, meaning that you can learn to dance the rock and roll, swing and American Smooth dance styles for your first dance during your lessons. These dance styles are very easy to learn quickly, meaning that if your wedding or civil partnership is soon, and you need to learn a first dance quickly, the song and dance style are very good.

The song itself begins with a 25 second intro without a beat. This is an ideal time to learn to dance an introduction to your first dance e.g., walking onto the floor or doing some shadow work or opening outs. The main beat then starts at 25 seconds, and it is a very clear beat which remains strong for the entire song, so it is easy for couples to pick up during their dance lessons, as well as my other dance students in their Ballroom and Latin group classes.

At this point (about 25 seconds in, you can learn a basic Jive, American Smooth or Rock and Roll routine with some easy lifts, jumps and throws (wedding dress friendly of course), and the happy and upbeat feel of the song will have your wedding guests clapping along with you.

At around 1 minute 25 seconds in she sings 'This will be an everlasting love ohh ohh' as a break in the song, which is where you could learn to dance an impressive ending to your first dance. This could include another drop or lift, and because there is another minute left of the song, you could invite your guests on to join you and continue dancing. And in my experience, they are more than happy to when this song is playing because it is so happy.

Or, if you are feeling fit enough, you can continue dancing to the end of the song, however the song starts to come to a close around 2 minutes 10 seconds where she repeats the words 'From now on' and the song doesn't really have an end note, it simply fades, so if you try to add a dramatic ending, it doesn't always work well with the music - because there is no real ending. So I will often teach a first dance to this song between 1 minute 25 seconds and 2 minutes and then encourage them to get some of their other guests to join them on the floor. I can give dance lessons to these other guests so they don't feel like they don't know what they are doing!

I have listed the lyrics below, but I would recommend listening to it, and you'll note how upbeat and happy it is, and combined with the lyrics, it is a great first dance song to use during your dance lessons. I also use it as an easy Jive during my Ballroom and Latin dance lessons as well.

This will be

An everlasting love

This will be

The one I've waited for

This will be

The first time anyone has loved me, oh oh oh

I'm so glad

He found in time

And I'm so glad that

He rectified my mind

This will be

An everlasting love for me, whoa, ho

Loving you

Is some kind of wonderful

Because you've shown me

Just how much you care

You've given me the thrill of a lifetime

And made me believe you've got more thrills to spare, oh

This will be

And everlasting love, oh, yes, it will now

You've brought a lot of sunshine into my life

You've filled me with happiness I never knew

You gave me more joy than I ever dreamed of

And no one, no one can take the place of you

This will be you and me, yes, siree, eternally

Huggin' and squeezin' and kissin' and pleasin'

Together forever through rain or whatever

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you and me

So long as I'm livin' true love I'll be givin', to you I'll be servin'

'Cause you're so deservin'

Hey, you're so deservin'

You're so deservin', yeah, yeah, yeah

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

The love, the love, the love, the love, the love, the love

Love, love, love, love

The love, the love, the love, the love, the love, the love, love, love

From now on, from now on, from now on, from now on

From now on, from now on, from now on, from now on

From now on, from now on, from now on, from now on
